How old do you think is too old to be driving? Do we go by age, health, or driving ability?

I think once you reach a certain age or when are diagnosed with something that could impair with any driving aspect you should have to retake the test. The age that I think... I don't know. Because my dad's mom is like 78 and she drives perfectly. But sometimes you have a 50 year old that can't drive.. Or even a 22 year old..

I think your driving ability should determine whether or not you are too old to drive, and certain medical conditions, such as epilepsy.

I think there should be regular tests, say every 5 years, to check your driving until you get to 60 or something then it should be every 2 years because health problems onset faster then, statistically. No one's a better driver just because you're younger, older are usually more cautious I find even if they do go 10mph below the limit. Although as soon as a medical condition such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's or Epilepsy is diagnosed the person should be stopped from driving. I've had several relatives or family friends die from driving accidents after having been diagnosed with diseases, yet had they been banned from driving might still be here

So people take so many tests and finaly pass in there 6th time and they gotta go through it all over again? I think soon as theyre diagnosed with something just test them there and then, but leave everyone else who is perfectly fine with themselves alone.

I wouldn't make anyone pay for the checks, only the initial test. Some people ignore all the rules as soon as they can drive without L plates which is really bad

If they didn't pass they should have to do some sort of awareness course. Nothing expensive

well i guess when you put it like that it doesnt sound that bad, but not sure if everyone will agree, 'cause people always look for short cuts, due to their laziness... so those are the only people who will disagree i think

But it's the lazy, short cut people that cause problems and dangers when driving. No one is ever going to solve the problems though

Haha, with the amount of money they get and expenses I'd be one any day! But it's such a long way to get to being a well paid MP so no way! I did sign that petition for Brown to resign on the Number 10 website, right now anyone could do a better job than him!

I have to say that i've never seen an old person involved in a car accident, not that it doesn't happen. The majority of the accidents are drivers who've been driving for years and ignore the basic traffic rules.

Haha thanks, so got myself one vote!
I've only ever seen them in serious accidents on TV shows like Traffic Cops, but minor bumps I see a fair bit. They just don't seem to stop very well!
