Seemingly a big debate in the press currently. What's your views on this section of society? If you would include yourself in it, how do you feel about the negative press? *Please, no offensive comments, there may be members who would feel themselves to be part of this area of society

i agree..its just a label...labels are not needed but if someone isn't like everyone else they have to call them something...not being like everyone else is my favorate thing to do...if people want to give it a name go right ahead i just pretend the labels don't exist...

Label Label Label. They're no different than any of us. they just choose to express themselves in differnt ways and such. They shouldn't be treated any differently.

How about the whole notion that all emos cut themselves and are depressed?
I agree that it's a label, but many emo kids will happily call themselves emo, just like scene kids will call themselves scene. Personally, I'm a mix between the two which isn't really any different to a lot of people my age that I know and I'm just fed up of bad representation in the press!

I don't think all emos are that way. It's just a stereotype. People that know emo kids will say that the emo label cut themselves, are depressed, etc... I think it's just a steroetype of stereotype.

We have emos but none seem depressed. It's just a way of expressing themselves. We don't think any differently of them. A lot of my friends from grade school have gone emo, but nothing has changed with the way people treat them.

Nowadays anyone who takes a sad picture and puts it up on myspace is "emo". Labeling someone as emo is stupid. and most people dont know the difference between "scene" and "emo" kids and they all end up being classified and "emo".

A lot of scene kids would class themselves as emo too though. They usually fit into both.

So much for Emo being a style of music these days. People who classify themselves are no different than anyone else. They just listen to different music. =]
