Gun Control.. Hm... Honestly, kinda not the most important thing to me. I mean, people can have guns. But they should have to be locked up and somehow 'checked on' if they have children. Don't shoot them around people though.
Gun Control is kinda like a blahhh to me... That makes me sound bad..

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
I don't think that the ending of that still applies, because when the Constitution and Bill of Rights was written, there was no permanent standing army, and many of the wars were fought with people who had to own weapons for their safety. Now with a standing army, I don't see that great of a need for people to own guns. To each his own though I guess.

My view is that people should have guns to protect themselves from attackers, but i know this could lead to gun-crime, the law should be that it is used for defence purposes only, nothing else.

I don't think anyone should have a gun unless their profession means they need it (police, army, farmer etc.). I live in statistically the most dangerous borough in London, and have seen gun crime first hand throughout my life which isn't needed. Young people, as young as 7 or 8, are carrying guns in parts of the city, even country, and gun crime is rising still. No one needs a gun, that's why we have the (often useless) police. Just yesterday a teenager shot bullets in two 9 year ols' faces as they were in teh playground at school, why? Because he had a gun and was showing off. That's what liberal gun ownership will bring more and more frequently.

I'm not fond of guns. What happened to good old fashioned fist fights. There was just a case here where this kid got into it with another kid who used to be his friend. A group of cars went to the kid's house. His dad came out with a gun and blew away the kid he was fighting with. He said the kid lunged for the gun, but he never should have had a gun out there. He never even called the police. The kid was only 20, what a stupid way to die. It shows that adults aren't responsible with guns either.

I agree with Lolly. Noone should have a gun unless they need it. I would be terrified if I lived somewhere like America, where lots of people own guns, and anyone can have one if they wish. It's bad enough in the UK with all the stabbings, let alone shootings on the rise too! However, with crime rates like they are today, and people becoming less and less afraid of the law and police, I so understand why some people might want to own a gun, simply for personal protection.

Well, it's not supposed to be that anyone can have them. You're supposed to get a license to carry one. It's the illegal ones that are the problem.

But thats what I'm trying to say - people are still getting guns without having licenses. The thought that so many people out there have a gun in their irresponsible hands is petrifying.

What are your thoughts on this? Should you be able to legally shoot someone who comes on your property? Whether it's a burglar, trespasser, whatever.

Sure. Go shoot them. Have fun in jail though.
