Chickens as pets? Can you get close to them?

Yeah, you can pick them up and stroke them, you just have to make sure up support them right with one hand holding their feet - they don't panic then! They're very friendly. We keep them for their eggs.

Do you take them for walks? No, we don't take them for walks haha! They've got their own section of the garden which is fenced off and they all run around in there When my mum is gardening, we let them out into the whole garden because they like the 'garden' with my mum - picking at the frechly upturned soil and eating all the worms!

No, Dee they don't bite Even if they did it wouldn't hurt. However, if you're wearing anything shiny (ie jewellery) or mildly intersting they WILL peck at it. Doesn't hurt at all, just slightly annoying when you've got five chickens pecking at you and you're trying to check for eggs or refill their water or food lol!

That's what i meant, peck. My guinea pigs do the same thing with necklaces. They start biting on it. Thanks for telling us about chickens, i knew nothing about them.

That's okay. Whenever I tell people they are really interested. I have one friend that likes the idea so much she wants to come and muck them out! She can feel free - one downside to them is that they can really stink!

Eww, they wouldn't be for me then. I give my guinea pigs a bath every other month.
